Bad choice? no. was it the best choice? depends. Personally, I built my first AR, but then I am used to working on cars, and had already completely pulled apart both a mosin and mauser by then, so I wasn't really intimidated by it :dunno:

I think I'm about to start ordering parts. It'll give me something to do on my new workbench I'm building in the garage.

rofl, I did it on my kitchen table...come to think of it, I think more guns have been assembeled/stripped/rebuilt/cleaned on that table than meals have been eaten at it.

:big grin: than you would probably wanna kill yourself when i tell you i have the 100rd drum mag for it too.

    edit: forgot specs.
DPMS flat top upper with chromed bolt and carrier, chrome lined 1:9 twist barrel. Yankee Hill Machine 2 rail front gas block, 4 rail free float tube.
lower is also DPMS (got lucky when i was shopping locally to match brands) only thing that sucks it its stock trigger, will be putting in 2-stage next time im home.

I was under the impression that any "preban" AR that is in Cali was grandfathered in and can only be owned by the original owner at the time of the ban and then can only be sold outside of the state??

because in CA there is no such thing as 'pre' or 'post' ban. hell, the original AW laws were passed in 1989. Basically, once something is a registered assault weapon, it will never leave its owners possession in CA unless it is sold out of state.

I have a room that's considered my 'gun room/office' that I could do that in. I don't mind the smell of cleaning solvents, but I'd rather my whole house not smell like them.

now thats fucking bullshit. you guys should revolt, for these laws alone, among many many others.

tell them that guns dont shoot bullets, they shoot magical rays of sunshine and shower everything with pot... it would work

it came with a 30rd mag. hard case, cleaning kit
I took it apart to clean it in almost no time, but im mechanically inclined and they are so simple a child could do it
