They finally brought it back for the first time since 2001. :wiggle:

    400D
    100-400 4.5-5.6 L IS USM
18-55 kit lens w/ CP or UV filter

Here's just a few. I picked what I felt were my best ones out of 300-something that I kept. I've still got tons of cars to edit, but there's a lot so here's something to hold you over. Critique if you wish, I'm always looking for ways to improve. :wavey:

Note: If you're wondering what the lights are on the side of the AML cars, it's their position in their class.

I saw you viewing the thread Chimpo. If you don't have anything bad to say, there's something wrong with you. ;)

My only beef is that some of them have shadows that are just dark as fuck, but that's what I get for shooting towards the sun. Would a Speedlite have helped that? Some of the dark spots (trees for example) are so far off I just don't see that being possible.

    no.

Ugh. I guess I gotta type some shit now. :hs:

First, it's pretty funny, I could tell EXACTLY which lenses you used on which shots without looking at EXIF. Then I looked and I was right. That should tell you something about L glass. holla!

    As for the shots:

1: Needs perspective correction and okay, it's a sign....so? (more on this later)
    2: Nice fents
3&4: Not bad, not great. They are okay(ish) but don't convey a sense of speed or motion.
5: Not a bad composition, but I probaby would have gone with a portrait orentation since it seems a bit cluttered. Portrait would emphasize the track and skyline which would have been very nice. Also, I would have done a long exposure so the cars were blurred a bit to add some motion.
6: I get it: flag. Not a fan of the cliche shots.
7: Looks a little pelfed, and it's just a tire. It's not capturing anything else but a tire. Nice rule of thirds action, but it would have been better with say a mechanic reaching for it or something.
    8: Hey, another fents.
9: Actually, I kinda like it. Fuck, I'm going soft.
    10: Just boring
11: Remember I said more about signs later. This is a much better composition for a sign. There's some context for what the sign is and why you took a picture of it with just enough of the track visible to pique the viewers interest.
    12: see #10

Overall technical details rate about 6.5/10, minor exposure issues with some over and some under by probably 1/3-1/2 and there appears to be some minor WB issues with the static track shots looking a little cool. And then shooting into the sun is a no no, like you said.

There you have it. You rate a Doesn't-completely-suck/10 on Chimpo's I-Hate-Everything-Meter.

    :bigthumb:

The fents? Fuck you. You wouldn't believe how many shots were utterrly murderlized by the fence. I sat in that one spot for about an hour and kept a handful of pics. What a waste of time.

As for 1, I just wanted it to be an opener to the pics. It's a bit fucking huge though.

For 5, I guess a long shutter speed might have made it cool, but I would have had to crank it up to like F16 or something right? I never thought of that scenario.

10 and 12, I liked 'em. Far too dark, but I liked 'em. To each their own.

    Ugh. You added moar pics.

    14 is badly OOF
On all the car shots you are using too fast a shutter. Work on slow shutter panning.

I can agree with that. I'm too lazy to go check what most of them were but I know for whatever reason I had it way higher earlier in the day.

12 has a shitty dof IMO.

Don't like the slanted Ferrari in 15.

    I like #3 & 4.

I would say only 1-2 of those are even worth keeping. Most of those aren't really that interesting, and the ones that are either have focusing issues or too much cluttering/distractions. Also, for the pictures of the cars themselves use a slower shutter speed and pan, there's absolutely no sense of speed given by the car pictures.

The isle isn't big at all. I walked around 1/2 the fucking track, that tells you how small it is. :mamoru:
