Friend of mine bought me some detailing stuff for my car and I already went through the EDUs and none of them actually had a step-by-step of what to apply with the materials I have. So, please rearrange these in the optimum order =)

    1.) conventional hand wash
    2.) Mother's clay bar system
    3.) 3M rubbing compound
4.) Meguiar's Gold Class paste wax

No idea which goes where =/ Halp!

You already have it in order, but I'd follow 3M with a lighter polish before waxing.

looking through the EDU list, which light polishes can be bought at your local Kragen?

I'd go with Meguiars Swirl Remover #9.

so? its a free country.:noes: but seriously.. #9 is on my top 5 hate list and i read many bad reviews about it too on other sites. try it out for yourself.. its cheap @ like $7 a bottle.i gave my nearly full bottle away.

It will remove light defects and adds gloss. Perfect for the intended use I recommended. I would have said Meguiars #80 or Clearkote's Vanilla Moose but Northstar wanted something he could buy at the retail level.
