    2. "transistor npn" found pnp trans., they the same?

    3. "3 phase wye"

    4. "3 phase delta" field effect transistor"

    5. "electrolytic capacitor", *I know what a cap. is, but what is an electorlytic cap?

    6. "unijunction"

These all had symbols that i scanned printed cut and paste on flashcards... i don't know if the test requires a knowledge of what each component does, but I would like to know.. help is appreciated

Electrolytic capacitor is simply the dialectric material. Like you can have electrolytic, mylar, poly, ceramic, etc.

Electrolytics are usually used in situations that need a lot of capacitance. However, their high frequency performance isnt as good as say a polypropelene.

You are trying to be an electronics tech without any knowledge of electronics? I suggest a few basic classes at your local Devry or ITT tech.
