Hello. I live in California and I just got my AR-15 parts. I need to decide whether I want a detachable magazine or the pistol grip, telescoping stock, flash hider, etc. If I get a fixed magazine... does it have to be permanent? Or can I buy a tool kit that will unfix it. Can I also use stripper clips when loading the fixed magazine? What do you guys think I should go for?

I would save the money for an apartment in another state...

but of those 2 choices, I'd go for the fixed mag with all the fun stuff.

Well, with the SKS youre not allowed to have a Yugo with the attached grenade launching equipment, so I guess this may also apply to AKs? :dunno:

So long as it isn't attached to a centerfire rifle with a detachable magazine its alright iirc. It should be listed in pc 12276.1 (1) (D) I think, so you may want to check there to be sure. Also if you check the PC for destructive devices (12301 I think) it restricts anything that isnt less than .60 inches unless its a flare gun. I believe a few people have gotten around both laws by fixing the mag and using the 37mm flare gun, not the 40mm which can use a grenade. You should probably check with the DOJ though and be careful with what they tell you and check everything they say for yourself (dont just settle for "its illegal" make sure they tell you were its written thats its illegal.)

edit - likewise dont settle for my information, check it for yourself since I'm not a lawyer.

I'de go with Gimik's idea.. every non p grip AR setup I've seen didnt look very comfortable(I'v never actually handled one I live in a commie state but not that commie) so I'de opt for the fixed mag. As far as being able to unpin the mag I think you can do that.

    1. Permanent as in you can not remove it unless you use a tool or take apart the reciever.

    2. Yes you can. Certain ones are much better than other, so research it.

    3. Pistol grip with a pinned mag.

Right now they DOJ is trying to get the magazine in there "more permanently" :mamoru: Their most recent attempt got booted out in 12 hours :o http://calguns.net for the latest legal issue regarding the AR15 in California.

I oftentimes drive up to the state line in Tahoe and sit there on the bench on the sidewalk just on this side of the border. I wear my sidearm in an OWB holster and just sit back with a cigarette and say "No, not yours" to the gawkers on the CA. side.

Hey ...I heard that a new set of regulations were passed on Nov 1, and that we have a short period of time to respond.

But what do you think of the monsterman grip? Comfortable? If the mag lock thing law passes, monsterman grip is the only way to go...

Next time, take a hooker and an AR, and I think you'd have the trifecta...
