Is there anyway to have a 'search function' embedded into the desktop using Windows XP?

Something that is transparent until you want to use it? :dunno:

    nawww not a hot key.

Something that is always residing on the desktop. The thought is that I don't have to launch IE in order to type an item in the search box. I can just type what I want into the box that is on the desktop, press enter and then IE will open up with the results. :bigok:

have your background be an html file with a google/msn/etc search box embedded... other than that, look into DesktopX

you type a website, you hit enter. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be using a computer.
