What kind of deodorants do you guys use? I'm using Old Spice and I noticed it leaves a nice stain on my shirts. Any of you guys had this problem with Old Spice?

Anything with Aluminum Zinc will leave a stain. I use mitchum and it leaves stains on my white shirt, but bleach will usually work if it's all white.

its the aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex, the main ingredient that gives certain deodorant those anti-perspirant properties. unless your shirts are expendable get something that doesnt have that ingredient,

Is there a trick to not getting pit stains when using just plain deoderant instead of anti-persperant? I definitely hate the white residue left on my tight-fitting shirts, but i don't exactly want to be visibly sweating either.

 what does shaving your pits have to do with your sweat glands pumpin out when it's hot outside?

    i dont even sweat much.. but when i use a deoderant that's not anti-persperant, it's a disaster.

theres some stuff called drysol that you apply to you armpits at night and then wash off in the morning and you dont sweat. i think right guard or some other deodorant line that just released a "clinical strength" version that is similar. anyway because it goes on at night it only stains your night shirt :o

well, i have a few shirts that are stained yellow.

i dont have any scientific evidence to back this up, only antedoctal:
i think the yellow stain has got to be from the antipersperant's properties. so it works for you to stop sweating, but the same properties also prevent the soap and water to wash off the sweat that is trapped because the soap and water are repelled.

so, i know that regular use of strong oxi-clean will getout yellow stain. i bought oxi-clean spray that i spray liberally then rub in on the stained areas. i let it sit, then rinse off and repeat.

with regular use my newer white shirts dont have the yellow pit stains. i found some older shirts that i dont wear anymore and i will take some before and after shots just to show and tell i guess.

The aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex is what keeps you from sweating (in theory).

It's what makes deodorant into anti-persperant.

deodorant keeps from you smelling but anti-persperant keeps you from sweating in the first place....

need some chem student to tell us what would break down aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex while not damaging fabric and dye.
