I have a few questions about the elite Delta Force. What would be the requirements?? because rumor is that to be on Delta Force you cant have any identifying marks (such as tattoos). Would that apply if someone was assigned to them, but not really a member of Delta Force?? Any help would be greatly appreciated :wiggle:

    edit: revised for OPSEC

British SAS dont mind tatoo's, seeing as most of them are from the parachute regiment and have regimental tat's then it would be a problem otherwise.

SBS is different though, as they may have to pose as tourists for beach recce etc, sounds implausable but true.

Dont know how this compares to the us but delta was formed by beckwith wasnt it? and modelled on the sas.

I always wondered why they never acknowledged there existence then one day it came to me if they don't exist they don't have to have a budget or anything but I'm not really sure if that true it's just kinda theory i came up with.I don't know if i could ask this but i will anyway and we'll see what happens what Branch are they under? are they marines? or is it a missmash of army, navy, marines, airforce.

It is top of the pyramid in the Army.

    1. Delta Force
    2. Special Forces
    3. Ranger
    4. Infantry

At least that was what I saw when I was in.

I thought rangers and delta were considered special forces so what would special forces be in between ranger and delta?

Delta or no Delta let me tell you something Sgt. When we get on the 5 yard line. You're gonna need my rangers, so y'all better learn to be team players.

special forces = army green berets

special ops = rangers (rangers are standard infantry with better equipment and training and therefore spec ops capable.)

delta = elite special forces basically.

rangers ARE NOT special forces, they ARE special ops. people get this confused way too much

From my brit point of view i see rangers as a tough infantry regiment, much like the para's here, not full on special forces but a good way to go if you want to progress to special forces such as delta.

Pushed into creation by Col. Beckwith, Delta fills the small void between all other special forces groups under the Army. AFAIK, they are the best of the elite. They run out of Fort Bragg and are basically used as a counter-terrorist force. They are along the lines of the British SAS and German GSG-9. They were utilized at the Olympics in Atlanta, the failed attempts to rescue the hostages in Teheran (not down talking Delta), Operation Just Cause and whatnot. It's a pity however that they've never truly been pitted against a "crisis" situation afaik because of political problems or mishaps.

    Definetely some hardcore stuff though.

I'll try to find some Pamphlets for the JTF-2 Special Forces that Canada has. They have given it out for recruiting purposes and I think it has the Requirements to join. :noes:

GSG-9 are civilian based arent they? Buy civilian I mean part of the police force rather than military, I could be mistaken and be thinking of the French though.

You need to be Special Forces before you can go Delta.
