probably based on the operating system you will prefer in the long run.

i personally can't stand mac's operating system and i don't want to run windows xp on it.

Even though the dell has a slightly better processor I would rather have the mac and the option to boot 2 different opperating systems.

The iMac's processor has 2mb more level 2 cache, though I don't know how that goes up against the extra 10% processing power. Doubt either are really that noticable for the average things people use the computer for.

Anyway, I'd go for the iMac. Apple have the all in one thing down, and the Dell's issues might not come to light for some time yet. Though you should base your decision more on OSX vs windows and the design of them I suppose. As you are going for an all in one I assume this is somewhat important to you, personally I'm a fan of neither.

Don't get the extra memory from Apple, it is so simple to install an extra 1GB module and you can get a decent brand for $30, quite a bit cheaper than Apple's $150.

macmall have that model for $50 off, free parallels software (can run windows virtualized) and free printer (epson something), so look around as you don't need to buy from Apple. You can get applecare cheaper too on ebay.

Im not a huge computer buff. All I really use a computer for is to write up papers, dl music/porn, and look post on forums.
