Had a switch at home die on me and Dell has a rebate going on their web managed 8 port 10/100/1000 switch.

Are Dell switches any good or would a Linksys be a better choice?

if it is just for home, just get the cheapest you can find. you don't need a managed switch at home thats for damn sure

I know I dont, but Dell doesnt make any gigE unmanaged switches anymore. It'll run me about the same price as an unmanaged Linksys.

We have several 2124, 5324 and 3448's around the country and never had a problem.

I'd be willing to bet that Dell's switches are just rebranded 3COM or Cisco, like most everything else they sell. They don't make stuff, they integrate it. It cuts down on R&D time.

Ended up deciding that I could spend $90 better elsewhere right now and picked up a 12 port Bay Networks 10/100 switch for $5.50 on ebay.
