    Hey all,

A friend has a year or so old Dell computer. She has told me that sometimes, the thing will not power on (nothing happens when the power button is pressed).

Any ideas what could possibly cause this, apart from a stuffed switch?

Also, how can I test the switch out? Is it possible for me to link the wires going to the power switch to see if the PC will turn on, or might this blow something up

I dont really want to have to transfer everything to another case. Also, will Dell motherboards fit into a normal ATX case?

Dell motherboards will fit, but if it's a 4400/4300/8300/8400, prepare to spend a year reverse engineering the connectors.

Run a small screwdriver along the front panel connectors and see if it turns on. It may two or more runs, they can be pissy.
