Dell not accepting new RAM

    This is stumping me,

    I purchased a new stick of 256 SDRAM PC133 off of newegg for my dell. I threw it in, computer makes a weird beep when starting up. My monitor will not turn on. OMG WTF!!!11 I take it out and every thing works fine. is there somthing i need to update or am i just screwed?

    Please help...:x:

    You got the wrong RAM. That's why I always use Crucial.com and have never gottenthe wrong stuff.

    What model Dell do you have? I have a Dell 4550 and bought Kingston RAM and it works fine.

    i got a 2300, its old as hell. i think its 2 1/2 3 years old, im not trying to make it a super PC just upgrading it.

    Most likely, it can accept the density chips that are on the dimm you bought. That's why I always go to crucial for stuff like this. Totally takes the guesswork out of it. Unless you like taking memory back to the store, paying restocking fees, return shipping fees, etc.
