I'm looking to buy a laptop from dell and I've narrowed it down to two notebooks, the inspiron 600m and the inspiron 8600.

I'm looking for a notebook that not only is light, but fairly powerful too. Looking to spend around $1200.

I like the 8600 because it has a 15" wide screen and upgradeable to a 9600 radeon mobile card. I'm afraid that this will be too heavy though :(

I don't know which one to get.

presentations sometimes, showing clients stuff, and just playing around with it whenever I want. Will do some traveling, so weight is a consideration. battery life isn't that much of a concern though as I can just plug it in, but it is nice to have.

Hmm.. Both are good machines; but you might beat yourself up if you don't just go for the 8600..

If you're going to do presentations from it without a projector, then I'd aim for the larger screen.

However, I wouldn't suggest their Inspiron line of laptops - I'd go with the Latitudes.

why latitude? It looks to me like the inspiron's have better features for the price.

The inspiron 600m is our standard laptop at work. All the guys I've given them too love them. I'm using one now as I'm at a different office and don't have access to my pc, and I love using it. The screen is awesome, lots of power for what I've thrown at it, plus IIRC this week they have a free upgrade from the DVD/CDRW combo to a DVD-RW drive.
