stuck with it as. you can't upgrade the video card on a laptop.

time to start saving up for the xps if you want a better video card.

usually integrated graphics have a BIOS setting where u can turn off on-board video. then u can use a video card if the motherboard has extra slot

the E1705 with intergrated graphics is not upgradable. You would need one with an MXM slot in order to upgrade it.

Well interesting thing here, I opened the laptop up and took a look around. There is a PCI slot. My laptop has some blue board plugged into it though. However I pulled that board out and the laptop runs perfectly fine.

Wondering if I plug a real video card would the computer recognize it?

Its PCI-Express, thats whats in the laptop and they make laptop cards for them.

From what I've heard the GeForce Go 7900GS is pretty good.EDIT: Or rather IS pretty good.

If it has an MXM-III slot you can upgrade. Do you have a picture of the card you removed?

We talkin' laptop or desktop here? If it's a laptop, you're SOL. If it's a desktop, you should be able to plug any video card into it and either the onboard video will automatically disable or you'll have to fiddle with Windows settings to get it to show your desktop via the new card instead of the onboard graphics, but either way it should be doable.

I've got the E1705 also and I bought it with the 7900 or 7950 Go preinstalled so there's definately a way to do it.

from what I've heard only the versions with the non-integrated graphics have the MXM slot.
