which one would you pick. The dell would be around 600 shipped and the apple would be 975 shipped with the student discount. I love the apple monitor but the dell is good and a lot cheaper.

    Thanks

I'm guessing no one in this Mac board are going to tell you go to with the Dell Monitor.

lol, thanks for the honesty, the dell is a great monitor, my roommate has a 17in but I've read a lot of problems with the back light leaking. My heart is set on the apple because it is such an awesome screen, i just dont want to settle for something and not be happy with the dell two days after i buy it.

I think you have already made your decision but want some support.

Go for the Apple, you won't regret it.

dell has some nice monitors :hsugh: I dunno about the problems they've been having though. If you want the brightness controls, usb ports, VESA mount capability etc that is built-in on the Apple then go for it, otherwise ask yourself if the brand is worth $300+ more :dunno: to some people it is

edit: by brightness control I mean the hotkey for the control panel :hs:

    nope.

Apple usually doesn't do that, new releases of Apple product are usually the only way to drop the prices.

I just bought the Dell to go with my 15" Powerbook. I can't justify $400 more. They use the same panel from LG and from what I have read, they have remedied the backlight issues...I picked it up for $616 shipped off the Small Business website...

benq makes better panels for less money. If you buy an apple, you get raped w/o lube by the price. If you buy a dell you support a crappy company. Buy a benq and get a good price on a good product.

That's the nice thing about the ACDs. I plug in my iPod and my keyboard and still have one firewire and USB left.

    here.
Bo- I just about picked up a 2005WP Dell yesterday. they had a $200 "small business" coupon...but it expired yesterday I think. I'd bet they put that deal up again in less than a month. Next time that goes up...I think I'll pick one up.

    :x: :noes:

EDIT: The final price yesterday was 549, IIRC

arg, i decided to cancel my order because I felt like I was settling with the dell, i've read soo many bad things about the back light leakage that it scares me.

i use dealsofamerica.com to keep track of internet deals.

Well, I just priced one out for work to replace the POS Sony I have and it's $750 shipped. For $150 more I can get an ACD shipped.

my friend picked up the 24" dell widescreen for $1k. he chose it over the 23" ACD b/c for for the price, he got the dell 24" and a mac mini for what he woulda paid for the 23" ACD and then some. he is completely happy w/ his decision. no complaints about anything at all.
