VERY bad for gaming and movies. Horrible response times mean bad ghosting effects.

Honestly, if you're going for quality stay way from LCD's, a flat CRT will beat it hands down.

it is a great lcd...i have the 2001fp and i'll probably be buying a 2nd in a few months time...i've had it for about 6 months with no dead pixels and no problems at all...i couldn't be happier with it and upgraded from my old 7 year old sony trinitron 21" CRT that must have weighed 100-150 lbs.

i'd say get it or the 2001fp...

So when dell quotes a 12ms response time, they're full of shit? Or are you looking for a faster one than that? :squint:

We bought 5 of em to sell, and they were 25ms on the box. And using em sure seemed like a 25ms (slow) lcd.

I've held off buying LCDs because I was worried about ghosting but I have no problems with my 2005 FPW when playing Counter Strike, Counter Strike Source, Madden, or any other game. If you're worried, you could always run a dual monitor setup with a CRT. I ditched my 19" CRT and am running a 17" LCD as the secondary monitor since the 2005 FPW does fine for gaming.

i know this thread is long dead but I have to add, whoever here is saying the 2005fpw is bad for gaming and has bad responstimes is A FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!! 12ms response time = zero ghosting.. i have one and its just as good as my 21" trinitron CRT was and the image quality with DVI is WORLDS better.

sorry but modern day LCD's > CRT's for gaming

i use the 2005fpw and IMO if you're getting it for gaming and dvds, look elsewhere. the backlight may be an issue for DVDs because it's so bright, and everyone knows CRT>LCD for fps games.. HOWEVER, althought u will take a cut in speed having to turn vsync on in most games, any game that supports 1680x1050 looks flat out amazing.. i love the monitor, i play doom3, ut2k4, and cs/hl2 and they all look amazing, and they're all silky smooth on highest settings except for doom3 (doom3 has a chop regardless the settings)
