Well its that time of the year coming up and i need a new rifle. Anyone know any decent rifles that are in the $200 - $300 price range. I was thinking of getting a 30 - 06. New or used.

The Remmy 710 package at Walmart would suit your needs. I've read nothing but good things about it. Or, of course, there is the truty ole Savage.

Synthetic; wood's gonna run you a bit more.

There were alot of bad things said about the originals, mostly due to the nylon sleeve that the bolt rode in making the bolt hard to work. They replaced it with a steel sleeve and now everyone seems happy. I'd still rather have a Savage though, the Accutrigger is nice.

used rifles can be found at gun stores, gun shows, classified ads and pawn shops. you should be able to find a decent used rifle in your price range. the only trick with buying used is knowing what to look for. you can google for articles, take a friend or buy a book. if you're still unsure, then play it safe and buy new.
