2003+ dodge autos are just fine... its the 02 and older that you have to watch out for.

I've driven a few dodge vehicles of a few different vintages... and they haven't built a decent auto since the 727TF....

    I'd go manual.

yea, I wouldn't tow with a dodge auto. They even tone-down the engine tuning on their auto trucks because they just can't hold up like the manuals.

In the earlier years of the cummins dodge, they might have toned down the power on them, but they havent done that for a while.

2003-Current automatics are just fine. The bad automatics were from 2002 and previous. I owned a 2002 24valve, but mine was the 6 speed so obviously i had no problems. It was the best truck i ever owned bar none. I would rank it above my lightning, but the lightning's got fun factor...

The only reason i dont have the dodge anymore is i got hit head on by a worthless fucking piece of shit drunk driver. The big dodge saved my life. I tried to find another one, but im too picky and coundt find exactly what I had, and i only wanted the color/options that i had or nothin at all.

I am a little out of the loop on the dodge transmissions theses days, I know up until the '03 year they had problems with the autos clutch packs failing, I know that after 2003 they replaced the manual with a MB designed manual. That being said I own a 2003 Ram 3500 (diesel) with the NV5600 (6 speed) and love it and have had no problems with it.
