Seems like a pretty decent deal. I think you could get him a little lower though. Offer $4,000

Haha, so I emailed him yesterday, and turns out it's a guy that goes to my gym. I spoke with him this morning about it. He said he'd give it to me for what he paid for it, but I didn't ask how much that was. I don't want to talk numbers until I see the thing.

Now this is the first time I've ever shopped for a bike. It's carbuerated, instead of fuel injected. Am I wasting my time with a carb, or will I be ok?

Carbs and fuel injection both have their advantages. With fuel injection you get a little bit better power band and better fuel economy. However, carbs are way easier to fix. There are still bikes that are carbuerated and they get tons of power and are usually a little cheaper since it's old reliable technology.

I don't think it matters at all.

I have the option of getting a 2001 F4i with 10 thousand miles for $4000 and it is in perfect condition.

Well that's sort of my dilemma...I know I can get a better bike with higher miles for the same price...is it all sort of the same? Would I be better off getting an F4i with higher miles? This price is about what I want to spend...
