I have a Dish 522 PVR and I would like to be able to encode different shows and stuff onto our new G5. I also have tons of VCR tapes of shit I did in high school and of my friends and brothers and stuff like that. I would like to get a decent VCR and make some DVDs out of it. Any good capture cards around that are not very expensive? The PVR has s-video, coaxial, composite for video and composite and optical for audio.

I have no clue about satellite dishes, but my cable box has a firewire port allowing me to capture shows from it without a capture card in my G4. I believe there's a company that mods satellite dish set top boxes with a firewire port:

I don't know about any capture cards because I haven't used them.

If you don't have the firewire output from your Dish box, you can use equipment from El Gato systems

They have both high definition and standard definition offerings.
