Are we commenting on the monument? Or your photography ability?

    1. If you post a picture, expect critiques. If you're looking for praise, good shot or bad, you've come the the wrong place

    2. If you're a n00b, listen to what you're being told, we're only trying to help. Critiques in here on sugar coated. If someone tells you your pic sucks, it more than likely does for some reason or another.

    3. If you're going to tell someone their pic sucks... at least try and give them a reason, and a possible solution.

    4. Keep personal attacks to the main forum. I'm all for a little ribbing, but keep the flaming to a minimum

It's a weird framing for a monument, although I can't quite place what's wrong with it. It would've been better centred with some sort of symmetry or w/e.

tree steals focus, try raping the saturation on the green and take it down till it looks neutral. i would then say it's still going to bee too red, so maybe even b+w it?

It's fine to put things in the center as well... just not annoyingly off-center

Edit: Actually you can frame something however you want, but it may not be appropriate, or the "best" way to frame something..

    your colors are terrible.

I did a quick fix, but the file size made it hard to color correct without creating massive halo's and losing detail.

Also, it's oversharpened in the trees and edges.

it's boring and looks like a tourists snap shot. you've got unneeded space to the right of the statue and you've cut off the lower part of the seal on the bottom of the bust.

My suggestion would be to put the statue on the bottom right corner and get low and shoot up to get the bust, along with all of the tree beside it in the frame. do something interesting to make this stand out. Or go back at night and light paint... something....

I didn't say it was better, I just said it was color corrected... :coolugh:

The origional has a red cast over everything... If you use the info palette and look at the data from the trees, granite statue base, sky, and bust, you'll see that they all have waaay too much red.

I just neutralized it and posted it.

Actually, when you go to the linked site of the 'stock' photo, my colors are MUCH closer to real life than the one the OP posted.

So yeah. I'd say it's serious.

    questions?

The image quality of that little jpg is balls.

    The color correction is fine.

I'm not post processing the thing, i'm removing the red cast. Any other corrections are on the OP.

Here's the larger version. Same exact process. 1 click.

Yeah, yours is better, but you spent more time on it too...

    Seperate layer for the clouds?

    selective color for the greens?

Increased contrast or selective black point?

All I did was neutralize the granite base of the statue.

You also def. lost some sky detail... I kinda miss it.

nope, just some color balance and saturation adjustments.. took all of 5 minutes tops, no layers. with a little more time and effort, I could bring the detail back into the sky.

nice work! :bigthumb: hue/sat would have been a good way to go...

Fuzion, The whole thing still looks a little too red to me, except the sky...

    I think intheworks nailed it.
