What are the most (in your opinion) brutal death metal bands that exist now? I'd like to hear some of your opinions on this matter and then after awhile I'll add my own.

There are more brutal bands than CC but I just haven't found them yet. But I've heard of Origin but from what I've heard they suck, but I'll check them out. Thanks for the reply.

a lot of the 'brutal' death is bordering on black metal these days. cryptopsy is still real good. as is zyklon.

Wormed and Devourment get my vote. Some other rather brutal DM bands worth checking out are Cinerary, Disgorge, Gorgasm, Guttural secrete, Infester, Krisiun, Neuraxis, Saprogenic, Spawn of Possession and eleventy billion more. All of which are definately more brutal than CC, who suck balls.

With the exception of Cryptopsy, the rest of the bands are Black metal or "psudo"-black metal, not death metal.

Not at all. Bands like Cannibal Corpse are carrying it on.

I agree that Death metal is far from dead, but CC are selling lots of records and thats all there doing! They've never been anything more than a mediocore band that was lucky enough to get popular.

Bands like Arsis, Anata, Misama, Psycroptic and Theory in Practice are examples of bands that are keeping the genre fresh. Sorry to be pedantic but I really dislike CC!

Not sure if they are deathmetal but I've always been a massive fan of "At The Gates"

Misery Index and Dying Fetus are really good, they do the true 'american brutal death' style.
Vader, Brutus, Severed, Decrepit Birth and Emeth are also good (=brutal :big grin: ).
Exhumed are very brutal, too, but the gerne is not really deathmetal, rather goregrind.
