I decided I hate the Corps today, so this will be my one and only attempt to disuade you from enlisting. You should get out of DEP and do something else with your life.

The reasons why you shouldn't join:

    1. It's gay.
    2. It's pretty stupid most of the time.
    3. We lied, boot camp was pretty gay and it only sucks more after that.
    4. The pussy that you do get are pretty shitty.
    5. EGA stickers really aren't that cool.
    6. Killing a Haji with your bare hands gets pretty tiring after awhile.
    7. The MCMAP belt gets pretty hard to put on correctly after a couple months, I still have trouble with it now.
    8. It's really gay.

As I have read, you will not ship out until August, you are free to leave at any time, but the second you get off that bus and you step on those footprints you are officially fucked.

    That is all.

    Signed,

    LCpl Wang, USMC

Those reasons are compelling :naughty:, but in all seriousness you're not the first person to try and talk me out of it. My whole family, my friends, and pretty much everyone I meet think i'm making a huge mistake, but I don't care... i've wanted to be a Marine my entire life and I didn't lose 80 pounds for no reason, I did it specifically so I would be able to become a Marine. I see those guys at the VFW who are like 85 years old and I want to be like them when i'm that age with that same camaraderie and brotherhood, not some schmuck who worked a regular 9 to 5 job behind a desk his whole life.

those guys are no different than the schmucks you are talking about, eccept for maybe being traumatized by some experiences from serving heh,

yeah... reading this forum made me opt out of being a marine. I'm goin to the army. fuck it.

though i should say, the marines is for people like accord.
they don't call em jarheads for nothin'. They aren't concerned with making the smartest decision.

    what mos accord?
I hope infantry... i don't see why anyone would join the marines for anything else.

The only compensation I get for the bullshit I put up with is the stroking of my ego. Make due with the dick sucking.

    does. not. exist. any. more.

At no point in time after bootcamp did I feel like I was part of something bigger than myself. It's kinda hard when most of your time is spent watching for backstabbers trying to further themselves in any way available.

yeah.. all my romantic visions of the military went away once I realized it's part of the government.
I'm not in the military yet, but i'm sure it is run similarly to the DMV.

i just got in a fucked up fight with another marine because apparently i woke him up even though there was like 6 others ppl in the room.

he's right theres no more brotherhood and whatever than there is in the civilian world. theres still mad cliques like its cool, we even have a goth click in my battalion.

in the last week i've been told i'm going to iraq, a marine detachment on an airforce base, the mssg, and now iraq again, senior leadership is completley fucked up in the marine corps, it's sad but true that the majority of people who join are dumbasses and those will be your leaders and i guarentee you will hate it. my other posts wern't just fucking w/ you you really will hate it.

there is no brotherhood in the marine corps, i can't stand 80% of the people i come across, i have a tight group of friends and that's where it ends (remind you of civilian life, yeah? i thought so).

all the bullshit they feed you about seeing a marine when you're off base and immediatley having a awsome friendship is a lie, if i see someone i think might even possibly be a marine when i'm on leave or whatever i do everything i can to avoid them.

join the air force, join the navy, join the army, just don't join the marine corps biggest mistake you'll ever make. :coolugh:

edit: brotherhood and all that shit ended post vietnam, being in the marine corps is like being back on the street and if you don't adapt to it then all that happens is people take advantage of you. and you won't work a 9 to 5 job, you'll work a 5 to 5 job. big difference? no it's just longer.

    still sound great?

Does MOS have anything to do with it... I heard that Marines are usually a lot "tighter" in the infantry than in other MOS' :hsughno:

Getting out of the Marines at the eleventh hour at MEPS and going Army was the best decision I have ever made.

my unit is infantry, hence the name.

lmfao there was no american army in 1636

"The 3d Infantry (The Old Guard) is the oldest active infantry regiment in the army, having been first organized as the First American Regiment[1] in 1784."

Interesting seeing how the Marine Corps and Army were both born in 1775.

The oldest military units in the country are the 182d Infantry Regiment and 101st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, which were first organized in 1636.
