What do you guys think of this camera? Everywhere I've looked, people seem to like it.

I am possibly looking to pick one up (just sticking with the 18-55mm kit for now). I've looked around but the cheapest I've found that kit is around $730-750.

Is that a pretty good deal or are there some better ones out there? :x:

I would stay away from online shops where their physical location is in Brooklyn. Also, there are some companies where they have a couple different sites with completely different company names, but when you look at the physical address for each site under their "Contact" link, it's the exact same. Seems shady to me :dunno: And don't get lured in by the low prices - it's usually because they strip down all the usual included accessories that are suppose to come with the camera and they try to sell it to you separately at high marked up prices.

BHPhoto.com is in Brooklyn, I think, but their service is top-notch. Not their customer service though, they suck at this. Fucking New York assholes.

I'm just going to buy the kit so it should be the same everywhere :dunno:. Seems to be the same thing sold everywhere else. I get what you're saying though.

This site gets pretty good reviews and is a good price (after $75 rebate of course, but that's everywhere). It's also not in brooklyn or even NYC.

don't assume anything when ordering online through a new york place. they often take things out of the kit and then sell them to you back at 10x the price. see digital liquidators and others

oh and the store has to be a canon authorized dealer to get the rebate

They have it on their site that you'll get the rebate.
Plus i just looked on canon's site and they're listed as a canon retailer.
So that seems to be covered at least.

    Edit:
and holy hell, digital liquidators looks horrible  :ugh:

bhphotovideo is definitely the place to go if you are at all worried about ordering online. they usually have decent prices (way better than best buy or those types)

This look like a good deal? From B&H.
    Link: B&H Link

    350D 18-55mm lens kit
Sandisk 1GB Ultra II CompactFlash Card

    $ 884.95 (after $75 rebate)
seems decent to me since that CF card is listed as $90 on their site and the cam on their site is $804 (after rebate) which means about 10 bucks cheaper for that.

I'll vouch for B&H, too. I've placed several orders with them and never had a problem. They also usually process and ship orders extremely fast.

Yeah, I've heard good things about BH, and they're located in New York City, not Brooklyn.

Just be careful and read everything on the site. Even if it's listed as a kit, it can just be the body and kit lens. Some places still strip the basic camera accessories that should be included such as battery, chargers, cables, etc. The site you listed seems fine.

    I know
Getting a package rules... especially when it's a fun new toy.
