Ok, so I got my Hong Kong special UltraFire WF-505B in today... Less than spectacular packaging. It was literally just cheaply wrapped and putin a small envelope. But hey, I paid less than 17 bux for it so ya know -- you get what you pay for....

    So let's compare.

I was kinda shocked how much smaller the UltraFire was. The walmart (~19 bux LED) felt more durable and more bulky. Mind you, as a paramedic I've used the walmart light everywhere -- on MVAs, stubbling around meth houses, looking for sharps, dropped it out of the ambulance when I pulled the stretcher, sropped it under my bed when I'm trying to find my bunk.... never had a problem.

Size comparision to a G19 mag and .223

UltraFire. It is not on in the second pic, that's flash from the camera.

Old faithful. It's not on in the second pic, that's the flash. Also a pic of it pain in the ass AAA assembly (good luck changing batteries in the dark).

    C123 2 pack $10 AAA 4 pack $3.25 Walmart light takes 3 AAAs and the UltraFire 2 C123s

Now, I'm going to load up each light with fresh batteries and turn out the lights in the house. Compare. And then do the same in the nearby treeline. Lots of streetlights outside but it'll do.

Ultrafire looks great, however I don't like having to buy CR123s for it, do they make a model that uses AA? I'd like to be able to use my rechargeables :o

I have an ultrafire on the way, and I'm going to drop in a P60 sized R2 led module... supposed to put out around 200 lumens, and will be able to take RCR123s, so I don't have to worry about buying lithiums again, except for the Incan lights.

Yeah I'm definately looking at rechargable CR123s. I don't know if they have a model that uses AA and is still that bright. But at the majority of the prices, you can't go wrong trying.

Yep, that's exactly what I should have done. I didn't know it but there's a battery depot just down the road

It is an immobilizing and disorienting weapon of self defense. Haven't you hear from surefire owners? :big grin:

Surefire ad copy is an order of magnitude worse than the owners... You'd think that some sort of permit was required to posses one of their 60lm G2 lamp assemblies, nevermind the 120lm G2 assembly that's more dangerous than a class 3 weapon...
