Here in VA my local gun range jacked their FFL to $40 :ugh:
Another place refuses to do them anymore
Place back where I'm from in PA refuses to transfer anything they sell. He sells a rifle I want for $319 + tax. Buds gun shop sells it for $290 shipped plus transfer.

Last time I checked $310 out the door is better than $319 + 6% tax... fucking idiots :ugh:

Although I haven't run across it here, I hear you on the gayity of jacking the transfer rates or refusing transfers, but you're going to bitch about not saving like $20 to support a local business?

I'm not going to support him after the attitude he gave me. What an asshole.

Guy bitching tried to compare me getting it off the net to someone who hires a mexican for cash instead of getting a contractor

Gilberts in Springfield used to do it for like $25... now $40

I'll go to Virginia Arms for $20

Pretty accurate. If I had a business I would never in any way transfer something in that I sold. Why in hell would I help put myself out of business to the internet retailers. You want to shop somewhere else fine, just dont ask for my help to do it.

i picked up 2 and gave him a $20 and told him to keep it. He said that he was sick of paying $25+ per gun so opened up his own place

if you are solely relying on markup on guns... then i'm sorry for you

get better at selling accessories, doing gunsmithing, or have a range

I've got a guy that'll do them for free now, and wants to help me build AK's.

But for a $20 difference I'd just buy local. Being able to talk to someone when you're buying > online shopping cart.

I usually get a 5-10% markdown at my local shop, so I'd feel weird even asking them to do a transfer....unless it was something one of a kind impossible for them to get.
    I love small towns.

I prefer to spend a little more and buy locally. I have no problem spending the extra money to support a local gun shop when it means that they'll be around when I need something same day. One of the guys at the local shop even knows MG and I by name.

I would do internet transfers all day long. Log into a website, plug in a name, get an auth number, fill out two pieces of paper, log the gun and give a receipt.

I just made $20 for 5 minutes worth of paper work.

:werd: That guy sounds like a douche. It seems like most gun dealers are retards with the worst attitudes.

I don't get it. Nothing like killing your sales with poor customer service in a market that could use some good PR. :dunno:

:werd: I'd much rather support the local dealer. We luckily just had a great shop open up in the last few years locally. Huge showroom, great prices, and a great staff. They are $25 for a transfer but I have never used it. They will order anything in and will be pretty damn close to the price I would get it for after transfer anyways. It's nice to have a place where you can go in and fondle shit for as long as you want cause they know you spend a lot of money there. And the guys will bullshit for an hour about anything with you.
