My PR is 315x2 without a belt

I didnt want to try to beat my PR without getting used to the belt first but I did 275x8 after 3 sets of nonbelt DL. It felt pretty good. I think next week I'm gonna try for 325 or 335.

Now I just need to go get some straps and I bet I could do 350+

You lack strongminded. I was doing 315x4 before attempting to max, hit 405 raw.

I think you need to work on your grip before going to straps. It's only 350 lbs

i need to get a belt. A few weeks ago i fucked up my back deadlifting (pulled muscle, i think) and then, since i'm an idiot, re-aggravated it doing something else 2 weeks later.

So i'm just now starting to get better. I figure it'll be at least another month or so before i can deadlift again but when i do i want to start using a belt. Any recommendations?

    EFS has 3 different models - http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?cid=205

By the way for your back i'd suggest doing brisk walking (with arm swing) and birddogs.

Get on hands and knees, lift left leg and right arm straight out, hold for 7-8 seconds, repeat with right leg and left arm. There shouldn't be any hip hiking or spinal rotation.

Yup, my grip was more of an issue than back strength, but hit 365x1 one week and 405x1 the next, without ever repping above 315.

I never use a belt. I have tried it before but did not like it. If you have strong abs I didn't think you needed it.

I was dl'ing the other day and a buddy (who happened to be there) told me to wear a belt to avoid a hernia.

I've yet to use a belt, but I fear the hernia :noes:
