    why are you asking?

some variations help bring up strength defficiencies in different areas of the standard lift. some are standalone exersizes to build muscle size for the more aesthetically oriented.

give a more specific question, and i'll try to help more.

well on back day i usually do regular DLs. i was just wondering what other variations i could do. you know, 'switching things up'. i'm doing a routine somewhat similar to pur's and i throw in some oly lifts for explosiveness if that matters.

well if your goal is strength, you can do partial deadlifts to promote grip and lockout strength. you could also deadlift off blocks or plates to build strength off the floor. if you are an advanced lifter you could attach minibands or chain and pull against accomodating resistance to apply the strength curve to the standard lift.

if you're just "bodybuilding", and i use this term loosely, you could do bent over db rows, standing bb rows, high pulls, face pulls, lat pulldowns, etc.

as always, not all of these will work for you. you just have to learn your body, and see what it reacts to.

what is it exactly that you are trying to do? whats your goal with this back day? is it a bodybuilding style body part by day split?

    to completely answer your question:

    rdl hits your hamstrings heavy
sumo stance hits your hip flexers harder
sldl works your legs in general harder
snatch grip works your upper back harder

before this is was more into weight training for bodybuilding, but after a while i added strength training. i'm doing this between soccer/futbol training days which i'd eventually like to focus on.
