deadlift grip help

    I started working out about 5 weeks ago and have been doing deadlifts once a week

    my problem is that now that im deadlifting 200+, i can't seem to hold on to the bar, it just starts slipping out of my hand after the 4th or 5th rep, my back can easily go on but my hands just cant take it any more

    at first the bar was just piercing my hands while slipping out of them so i started using gloves, now its not piercing but its still slipping out

    ive used the overhand and alternate grip, both don't work anymore

    what should i do?

    train yourself to hook grip, i'm working on it now

    it hurts like hell at first but you get used to it, and it works

    I say just keep at it. 5 weeks is a drop in the bucket and when I first started deadlifting I could hold with my right as the overhand but with my left as the overhand it would slip on 4th or 5th rep as you said

    #1) STOP WEARING FUCKING GLOVES YOU HOMO!!!! Get some chalk and build some calouses up on your hands. You will NEVER improve your grip if you wear gloves. My Grandma deadlifts more than 200!!! :fawk:

    I dont reset til my last set on the like 4th-end reps .. go go grip strength

    yeah, they don't allow chalk in NYSC gyms or i would :wtc: I'm double overhand hooking for now and doing grip stuff while at work and hopefully it'll even up

    You can also use a rosin bag from a bowling alley pro shop. No mess and no one will ever see it!!

    It's just a little bag about the size of your wallet. Bowlers use it to get a better grip on the ball. INZER also makes a magic grip spray that is very inexpensive.

    Seriously, that's what I do and it seems to shorten my ROM a ton and make me feel stronger. Yesterday I couldn't get 545 past my knees with a mixed grip but with a hook it practically flew off the floor to lockout.

    It's really not that bad, occasionally I'll have the callus that forms between the thumb and index finger rip off but its really not that bad.

    My fingers are too short and stubby to be doing the hook. Damnitt!!! :wtc:
