Dead video card?

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by Rofl my waffle, Dec 14, 2006.

  1. I've had the worst luck when it comes to computers. Last night I turned off my computer and went to bed. In the morning when I try to turn it on, it sounds as if its booting up normally, and the signall on the monitor led goes from yellow to green, but I don't get any picture on the screen. The monitor is plugged in tightly and everything appears normal. I can't think of anything other than the video card going bad. Any ideas?

    Processor type and speed?
    Brand of power supply?
    Wattage of power supply?
Make and model of graphics card?

  5. The computer is brand new, around a month old. The CPU is a Pentium D and I believe it is 3.2 ghz. The power supply is an Ultra 600w. The card is a nvidia geforce 7300gs 256mb, pci-e.

Your motherboard doesn't by chance have onboard video does it?

If it does you could troubleshoot it pretty easy.

You say that it sounds like it's booting up normally. I take it then that you're not getting any beeps when it boots up?

What kind of monitor do you have? Lcd or crt?

  7. No the motherboard doesn't have onboard video. The computer has been working fine until the other day. Nope, no beeps it sounds as if it is running normally. The monitor is a crt that I got a couple years ago.

    Thanks for the help
