i have a 15mbps connection, when i download something via wireless and it goes above 900kbps, the router slows to a crawl

connected directly to the modem, I can download at 1MBps+ all day long

the router's processor gets maxed out when i download anything big

can i setup QOS to only allow the computer to use 80% of the WAN connection?
wrt54g v8 with ddwrt v24 micro (yeah i know, it can't barely handle ddwrt, but its much more stable than the stock firmware)

yeah the later versions are weak compared to the earlier ones. I would just hop on CL or ebay and find a better router for like 20 bucks

You are already familiar with dd so just find a used compatible one

    yeah, i might do that.
i'll probably pick up a wrt54gl router. i have had great success with them in the past.
