Quick question about db shoulder press...

How far should you bring down the db's before pushing up? From what I understand if you stop with your arms at a 90 degree angle you are not really hitting the shoulders, just the triceps.

I usually bring them down to a little past 90. I dont see how that could hurt anything.

I usually tap my shoulders. If you don't have shoulder problems, it shouldn't be a problem.

:wtf: @ all the 90, shouldn't you be bringing it down to your shoulder? there's still a good 6" of ROM, that's like benching and leaving 6 inches off your chest :ugh:

    someone tell me i'm wrong.

My SC Joint pops bad if I go below 90. I hadn't done shoulders for a long while cause of it until the other day.

It reminded me of trying to do them, so I thought "I should write that down somewhere"

i was watching one of ronnie's videos and when he does db press he doesn't even come down to parallel :eek3:

actually it would seem to me that going down that low when going heavy would really be asking for a shoulder injury but :dunno:

You're absolutely right, if going heavy I don't go down to my shoulders with the DB due to the stress it puts on them. Maybe it's just me but my shoulders start to hurt, or maybe I should go lighter on DB's.
