I just got home from seeing it, and the official report is:

It kicked ASS. Very good. Didn't rely too much on startle scenes. Covered some of Romero's social commentary, and seemed to REALLY understand what's scary about zombies, and understand why we lose in the end (human nature).

I still don't like dead rotting things that are faster and stronger than they were when they were alive. I don't like zombies that act like olympic gymnasts. And the zombies look like they were straight lifted from 28 Days Later.

    Running zombies = the suck.

But as much as that bothers me, the movie was good enough to make up for it. Other than that, it was very, very well done.

    Small things to watch for:
Tom Savini (Biker/Makeup Wizard in the original) as the Sheriff ("Shoot them in the head!")
Ken Foree (Peter) as the Televangelist ("When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.")
Scott Reineger (Roger) as the General
Gaylen Ross (Francine) as the name of a clothing store. :bigthumb:
Tip of the hat to the helicopter, the man with his head blasted off, more that I can't remember right now.

I plan to buy the DVD. It gets the Zombie Fan Seal of Approval.

It pissed me off that she was faster dead than she ever was alive though.

That movie was funny as hell, yet depressing. So what is the story behind the story in the movie? The end of civilization as we know it?

What's this about no CGI? What about when that truck bowled through that car when the chick was driving away from her neighborhood an into Downtown Milwaukee?

Let me start by saying I loved the movie. My question though, is why did the movie supposedly take place in S.E Wisconsin. I live in Milwaukee and nothing around here looks anything like that. I was wondering if it somehow paid tribute to the original film or something like that.

Good question. The original film was set in Pennsylvania. :dunno:

It kinda reminded me of some movie about demons that are like zombies and there are a bunch of people stuck in some high-rise appartment... I remember Louis Gosset Jr. was in it...

I cant NOT wait for this DVD.

I haven't seen the movie yet but from what I've heard it's just as good as Romero's original.

I got it last night. The new report special feature was too awsome. I felt like I was actually watching a new report on tv.

Ok, I got the director's cut, and it kicked butt even more than the theater version did. Andy's tape and the news report were great. Most of the deleted scenes weren't so good, which means the movie was well-edited.

Overall, well worth the price of a dvd.

I finally got around to see it last night.

Pretty fucking cool; although, the run over the gun shop was a little too much. Popping out of the sewer and making a run to the doggie door just didn't do it for me.

Besides that I really liked the movie. The suburb scene in the beginning was awesome.
