i've shot one of those, only thing i didn't like about it was it being a single shot, but for a first gun it's a great choice.

    Few reasons

This was $99 - That's about half as much as a 10/22. It's also a bolt action single shot which means no accidents with multiple trigger pulls. Also, I believe a bolt action single shot will teach her to take her time. This has a lockout key that I can use to lock the gun and keep it with me. And the biggest reason...

If I had a 10/22 in the house, I'd modify the hell out of it and it'd turn into mine :hs:

    Excellent gift!

I personally believe that you can't start teaching your kids firearm safety and responsibility too young.

    I have 2 boys ( 9 & 5 ) and a 4 year old daughter. All are shooters.
I was considering getting the 5 year old a 10/22, but this may be a better way to go, get him to slow his shots...maybe even aim!

She loved it! I'd say it's the perfect size for her. It should last a few years, then I'll get her a bigger one (10/22 or AR-15 if she's into enough) and she can hand this down to her little sister (3yo right now).

What's so weird? My brother and I started when we were half her age. So did my father and his father.

Very nice! I will do the same when I have a daughter and hope she will be as happy as yours! And shooting together will let you guys be closer too for when she is older.

Dude, that's awesome. Whenever we decide to have a kid and he/she turns 8, I'm getting him/her a matching 10/22, MKII set.

We actually hate barbies. We think they promote a bad self-image. The girls are not allowed to have barbie dolls.
