I was with my friend out at a party on campus and I met this really cool girl, shes pretty, funny, all the good stuff. The problem is she goes to a college an hour away. How many people date or have dated people who go to differnt schools

Lots of people have. Some make it work out. Most don't.

I always recommend a 15-20 minute distance window, max. At least that is my standard.

long distance NEVER works unless you talk with them all the time, call them, and visit them every weekend

My school is 3-4 hours away from my SO's school. If you both work hard and trust each other, it will work. For most people I'd follow the guy's advice above: 15-20 mins max.

Dating for 2 years at 8 hours apart. Both about to graduate, so that helps...

An hour away is borderline long-distance. It depends whether you mind driving that far all the time and if your evening time is tight.

an hour is not too bad. if it turns out to be one of those "see you every weekend" things--i think those are great. you really have something to look forward to at the end of a long week. but of course, mid-week surprises are cool too :wiggle:

My g/f is 2 hours away. We've been dating for about 7 months now and I see her about once every 2 weeks.

25 minutes is NOTHING though. I mean hell, it sometimes takes me 30 minutes to get from one side of town to the other!

IMO continuing a relationship over that distance is once thing, building a relationship over that distance is another. I tried the latter once and it didn't go well. Keep it within range.

Exactly. If there already is a lot established between two people, and long distance relationship could work. Trying to make something established is much, much harder.

I had major problems with an ex who lived 1.5 hours away. Just got to be so much of a drain it wasn't worth it.

    Plus, she was insanely jealous.
