When I was in college, all the girls who were both cool/pretty dated guys out of college who were in their mid 20s. At the time I was very resentful of this.

Looking back into the college environment though, I can see that most guys in college are still immature and don't offer much other than unmanageable libidos.

    Turned 25 this past fall.

Anyway, I've met someone at a class that was open to the public and we vibe very well. Class is over, but we're being forced to hang out again to work on post class videos. Ask her out?

When you ladies of Vag were 20, did the idea of dating a 25 year old freak you out? What would you look for in a 25 year old?

Dudes, does the idea of dating a person still in college sound acceptable? Dated a 22 yr old senior when I was 24, got kinda weird at times. I guess it helps that I'm asian and still have my frat boy college clothes to blend in, haha

Depends on the chick. If she's a party girl, then no. If she's got her head on straight and is smart and looking for the same thing you're looking for, then yes.

Can you pin down exactly what you're concerned about?

    - that it will be awkward when you meet her friends because you're older?
    - that she will be too volatile to be monogamous and/or safe
    - that ...?

25 and 20 isnt a big gap. sure, she may be a bit immature and you may run into some problems when she turns 21 and wants to go out on the regular.

i'm going to go ahead and guess that she lives on campus and you're major concern is her cheating on you.

Just never really dated a girl that much younger than me, or in a different phase of their lives, and i'm wondering if its worth it or a good idea. Now that's it's legal for me to date girls 5 years younger than me thanks to the passage of time, i'm just having anxiety about it.

I mean sure, one could have a fling with anyone, but other than that is a "real" relationship doable or worth the effort?

    Her:
-She's a member of the student gov
-Says she's catholic on her facebook
-It looks like one of her exes was asian.
    -5'2", and is adorable
-Her primary hobby other than student government is ultimate frisbee

    Me:
    -I'm 25
    -I'm agnostic/atheist
-Most of my exes have been white
-I drink and work out every other day
-My primary hobby has been rifle competitions in Portland, handgun competitions in Seattle. Will probably not mention in for a lonnnnng time. :mamoru:

Not too worried about her cheating for whatever reason. Maybe my ego is too big and I think i can secure any woman's loyalty, or maybe i just underestimate younger men.

Yeah... that's the question in the thread title, I can see that.

You still haven't said what exactly you are worrying about.

    - that she will fall in and out of love with you at random?
    - that she will not call you as often as you want?
    - that she will call you too much?
    - that...?

You've only told me what you're NOT worried about, namely, her infidelity, which helps to narrow it down but doesn't narrow it down.

The rest of what you said literally was just saying the same thing as the thread title in different language.

"Is it worth it?" = "Will it be a disaster?" = "Can I have a real relationship?"

Not saying you're wrong to ask these questions, but WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU WORRYING ABOUT?

When I was 20 I loved dating guys out of college, but that's only because I was far more mature than my college-aged peers, and older guys were the only one's who seemed to have their heads on straight with goals.

I would just say tread lightly. Keep an eye out for what she's looking for and her maturity level.

He doesn't have any concerns. At least none that he is capable of typing in a post.

I know so little about age group different relationships, i don't even know what to be specifically concerned with... whereas a few of of my female acquaintances are either married/dating dudes 10 years older.

I'll ask her if she wants to go on a date with me as soon as we finish our project and have that out of the way. I'll keep beer's advice in mind of seeing if we're actually similiar in maturity (it's possible, since she mistook me for being a fellow college student) and seeing what she wants.

Simple, easy no drama. If she says she aint interested, i'll go back to throwing myself out into the social scene to meet people, and casually pursuing both this half asian MBA student or this vietnamese-american nursing student i've been hanging out with.

Yep, i'm not quite as entertaining as some of the posters here. To say the least.

So you're worried about what you should be worried about.

Try to have a slightly more relaxed view on relationships. It's not like planning for a war. Enjoy yourself.

I'm turning 25 in a few days and I'm dating a 20 year old right now. It ties for the biggest age difference in a girl I was seeing (the other one was 5 years older).

There's been a few bumps, but it's not too bad :dunno:. Her immaturity has come out once or twice. Don't know if you can really compare it though since our relationship is sort of abnormal.

"I'm a Virgo and she's a Leo. Is it worth pursuing?"

"Ah... well... what concerns do you have exactly?"

"Well tbh I don't know what concerns I SHOULD have when a Virgo pursues a Leo."

This is the one, this is the thread that gets JJJ's Daily Waste of Kilobytes Award.

Is this an American thing, because the drinking age is 21? Because I'm from Canada, just about the same country, and I can't really fathom making a post about a 5 year difference between people in their 20's. Especially not one as generalized as is it a problem dating a 20yo without actually considering what kind of person she is. Listing her facebook stats really means jack shit, have you actually met her in person? Hung around her?

Was the fratboy clothes a joke? Frats mean shit up here and the college experience seems pretty far removed from what they show on TV as typical American college life and what I read on forum posts. So maybe I'm way off in thinking a 20yo American college girl is mature enough to date a 25yo guy. :hsugh:
