Anyone else have this problem?! I would imagine it being a bigger problem when the relationship becomes an intimate one. I mean I don't live with my parents anymore, but if you were dating someone with the same name as your mom and you were at home getting it on... ok, that was weird

i've dated a girl with my moms name(kelly) and it really wasn't a big deal, as i never call my mom kelly, i call her mom. but my dad always calls my mom kel, so whenever every now and then when someone would call her kel, i'd be like "uh don't call her that"

also dated a girl named jessica, which is my sisters name, but i just called my girlfriend jess because nobody ever called my sister anything but jessica.

i can't help it if my female family members have popular names :(

i'm still friends with 3 girls named kelly to this day...

:hsugh: You've got to be kidding me?

How is this really that strange? I would date/fuck a guy with my dad's name. Why should that creep me out? I don't think of my father sexually...

I've dated a girl with my mom's name. It wasn't a big deal. Also dated a girl with my cousin's name while her boyfriend had the same name as me. :mamoru:

I can't even watch porn with where the actress has my sister's name. Granted, my sister has a Russian name, so it's usually really shady looking porn.

it's obvious that girls and guys have different thoughts about this. i actually like my brother's name, and i don't get weirded out when i hear it belongs to other guys as well.

:dunno: neither of our names are all that popular. maybe that's why i don't care? i never hear it often enough to care... :dunno:

Whisper "this one's for mom" in her ear the next time you are naked & sweaty.

It's different for girls and guys. Girls are not protective over their fathers, where as males are VERY protective over their mothers and sisters.
I am not sure I could date someone with the name of my mom or sister. It would just seem strange, especially since I like using names in the bedroom.

I just asked my roommate this question though, and he said he could do it, but he would just give the girl a nick-name then.

I am pretty sure I would have trouble dating a girl with the same name as my ex as well. On the upside of that though, you wouldn't have to worry about accidentally saying the ex's name :noes:

Yeah, I can imagine that being strange.

My old neighbors were married and the guy's name was Jamie and the girls name was Shawn. I always found that kinda funny.

That'd be fun IMO. Although in my case it would just be close, not exact...

See, I can totally understand having a hard time dating a girl who had the same name as an important ex in their life, but their mom or sister? Sorry, it just sounds retarded to me.

Unless your mom has an amazingly rare name just grow up. It's a name :hsugh:

Dude thank you I always thought it would be weird to date someone with the same name as your mom/sister because you associate that name with your mom/sister.

Agree I think it would be a little weird but if I liked the person enough to where I'd consider dating them I don't think it'd be that much of a problem at all, seems like it'd be awkward just sitting around thinking about it but I'm sure it really wouldn't be very awkward at all, plus my mom and sister have pretty common names so I'd kill off a decent chunk of potential women by eliminating them based off that.
