When you're using Access it always defaults to the American format mm/dd/yyyy for dates. Even when I have specified a column's format as being dd/mm/yyyy when you enter a date as "02/05/2004" it will assume the 02 is the month and 05 is the day and re-arrange them to give you what was specified in the format (i.e. 05/02/2004).

How can I make it so it interprets what is being entered as already being in the format dd/mm/yyyy?

is your computer setup with the correct regional settings also?

this will continue to be a pain in the arse especially if you use VBA - DAO/ADO and port between databases/web applications etc. when starting new projects i often end up spending 90% of the first couple days sorting out all the issues that come from dum-ass american formats.
