Sorry but big john is the best ref in the biz and Dana is just pussyhurt.
Not is the "biz" any more.
Doesn't have a ref's license.
oh but he does
he did strikeforce recently
he is a shitty ref, UFC needs to get Big John back asap.
not up to them
seriously fuck this ref.
Can't they request him from the commission?
no, and he isnt licensed anyways.
rposenthal is god awful to.
They have zero input about either the refs or judges.
both good refs.
the rest are awful, especially Mazzigati and Miragliotta.
the only one I ever have a problem with is miragliotta
There is far too much complaining about the refs in general. They have an extremely tough job and for the most part do a good job.
That being said, Mazagatti shit the bed last night. The fight should have been stopped way earlier.
Yves has made some serious bonehead mistakes lately, but i still think he's a hell of a ref.
why did big john leave ufc?
How has Big John been reffing Strikeforce if he isn't licensed?
He is licensed.
To be a commentator for The Fight Network.
Worthless incompetent referee.
I hope he doesn't get a christmas bonus.
I thought he didn't get licensed in Nevada, but did elsewhere.
Yeah I agree. I think he handled the Hamill/Jones fight very well.
First, Matt was actively defending himself the entire time, even against some of the more serious blows so stopping it would be premature. He stopped it when he saw Bones breaking the rule (whatever you feel about the rule itself shouldn't be projected on Maz) and then when Hamill didn't get up he called the fight. Looking at the replay, he saw at least one very hard 12-6 elbow land on Hamill's nose and decided that it was a contributing factor for Matt not getting up to fight.
Dude makes mistakes, sure, but mostly he gets put into some shitty situations and his decisions aren't popular.
What drives me nuts about the Maz is that he isn't consistent. He stops fight as guys are standing up/still fighting, and then lets other guys getten beaten 1/2 to death w/out stepping in...
I don't fault him for the DQ. It sucks, but those are the rules.
