29/10/09 - Dana has "proposal" for Liddell, "disgusted" with Rampage

Dana White says he is “putting together a proposal” for former UFC light-heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, who recently finished a run on popular television show Dancing With the Stars and is now apparently itching for a return to action.

In a recent interview with Sportsnet, UFC president White was asked if a match between Chuck Liddell and Mark Coleman is on his mind, pitting as it would two veterans of the sport against each other.Dana

“I’ve never even thought about Liddell-Coleman. I am more focused right now on what to do with Liddell,” replied White, who has repeatedly stated that he does not want Liddell to return to fighting, given his recent loss of form and run of stoppage losses.

“I am putting together a proposal for him, in the next couple of weeks we are going to get together. Here’s the thing - he is always going to be with me :mamoru:, he is going to be with the UFC forever. It is just a question of whether he is going to fight again or not,” says White.

White also discussed another former light-heavyweight champion, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, who is currently on hiatus from the UFC to pursue acting in the The A-Team movie. White had strong words to say when asked about the state of his relationship with Jackson.

Mine and Rampage’s relationship is not great right now. I am very disappointed in him,” he admitted. “We have been there for him, we’ve done a lot of stuff for Rampage, on-camera and off-camera. I am disgusted with the way he is acting, to be honest with you.”

Jackson, who is currently gracing television screens around the world as a coach on season ten of The Ultimate Fighter, has been using his blog to protest about the way he is being portrayed on the show. He says that the footage has been edited to make him look bad, something White strongly disputes.

“The editing of the show… do you [hear] his voice dubbed over? Are we putting up cardboard cut-outs of him? He walked in and did whatever he did and said whatever he said,” White said. “You don’t always watch a show and think, “Oh good, I come off looking great”. Do you think I haven’t had my moments? If you go on this show and act like a dick, you come off like a dick.”

White also questioned Jackson’s state of mind at present, saying that he “can’t even talk to him right now”.

“Rampage is a very volatile man and he is all over the map. As a professional athlete you have small window of opportunity to make a lot of money and he is blowing that right now,“ he said. “I have tried to talk to him as a friend but he is so far out there right now… the worst thing that can ever happen to a fighter is that a Hollywood agent gets hold of him… they deliver on about four per cent of what they promise.”

The UFC president concluded by saying that he believes it will be difficult for Jackson to return to top-level competition after an extended break. Referring to fighters who take a break from competition, he said, “I don’t care who you are, how bad you are, how tough you are - you take time off from fighting and come back in against guys who have been consistently fighting the best in the world? You’re in trouble.”

You guys are nuts. GSP, Thiago Alves, and Jon Fitch are probably the only welterweights who can beat him.

Giant fuckin dot. Hughes- one trick pony. I dont even think he got worse- the game just passed him by and he never improved. He may look worse cause he knows this and now he is unsure of himself.
