So this year's b-day present to myself is a M44. I timed it so that the 10 day period ends on my birthday :hsd:

Anyways, I've been looking online to get some ammo, and these are the prices i've seen:

    Ammunitionstore.com
    $130/500 rounds for Wolf
$115/500 rounds for "Recent" Military Surp in .50 cal can
    $66/880 rounds for Polish Surp
(Have to call for shipping quote, guessing $30-ish)

    Ammoman.com
    $150 SHIPPED/500 rounds for Wolf

    Sportsman Guide
    $105 SHIPPED/880 for Albanian Surp

    AIM Surplus
$110 SHIPPED/880 rounds for Polish Sup

    CTD
way the fuck too expensive atm... :o

So I have a few questions that I could not find through searching the boards:
    1. Which surplus ammo is better (in terms of reliability, level of corrosiveness, and overall fuckin quality), Polish, Albanian, or this "Recent" stuff over on ammunitionstore.com? I've heard that the Polish stuff isn't bad, so is the Albanian worth the extra money?
    2. Has anyone dealt with any of these vendors? I would like my order to arrive in one working piece :wiggle: I dont mind paying an extra 20 bucks to buy from a better vendor.
    3. Has anyone shot the Wolf bimetal ammo out of their Mosin? If there aren't any big problems, i'm considering coughing up the extra money to save the step of windexing after every trip to the range.

and btw, thanks in advance for not turning this into a glock vs XD thread :mamoru:

Surplus ammo is fine, just check that your range allows steel core ammo since most of it is steel core. It is Corrosive, but not big deal if you clean right after you shoot.

I shot Wolf 200grs SP's out of my Mosin with no problem. (My rifle range doenst allow FMJ ammo, so I got the bimetal sp)

I bought some Albanian surplus from ammunition store and the shipping was $24.95 to the Bay.

which surplus stuff is better depends on what your rifle likes, just like anything else. sorry, but i don't know the answers to your other two questions.

Double check with Ammunitionstore. I called them and they said that all the surplus rounds are out of stock except for the linked Hungarian ones.

I just bought a couple cans from AIM. I hope they can ship to me. :hs:

I have tried many different types of ammo and out of the surplus, the Albanian is my favorite.

I like my wolf and Olympic ammo too, but I would just stick with Albanian due to the price. It is not that hard to clean your gun.

I purchased mine through ammunitionstore and had great service. Sportsmanguide is also awesome for products, but stay away from ammoman since he got bought out.

hes in deep enough shit over something else to really lose any more business from his shitty joke.
i dont know if the feedback forum on ARFCOM still has the thread, but some guy bought a "SKS VIETNAM BRINGBACK" from ammoman, and when he got it, it had import markings on it. so he basically paid about $300 for a $75 rifle. Ammoman refuses to do ANYTHING for the guy, and as a result has had his dealership status with ARFCOM removed. there was something like a 40 page thread there at one point.
ammoman has a "no returns" policy on firearms because he says he cant risk people swapping parts. but he did at one point offer the guy a $100 credit to return the SKS, thats fucking insulting

cliffs: dont buy guns from ammoman
