Photography is a dangerous hobby
Too poor... for a while I was spending every penny on photography equipment, then I decided not to major in photography, though everyone else told me to, and so now I spend no money on photography equipment, oh well.
Photography lesson for today.
In photography terms, a "fast" lens refers to the widest apreture opening v. a comparable lens, not the speed at which an autofocus lens works.
For example a 50mm lens with a widest apreture of f/1.2 is "faster" than a 50mm lens with an apreture of f/1.8. The lens with the smaller f/stop number will let in more light and therefore is better suited for low light situations.
In still photography a fast lens isn't as important as in cinematography because motion picture cameras usually don't change shutter speeds like still cameras do to allow more light to hit the film.
Cinematographers will have a set of "prime" lenses that are uber fast because they often shoot in very low light situations.
This 50mm is still fast.
...and that's cool. Just wanted to clairify the termanology.
