damn oil pan gasket

    i swapped a gsr engine into my del sol, and ive had to replace the oil pan gasket four times in the last 2 months wtf is going on :hsd:

    oil pan is warped/you're not using rtv in the right spots/you're putting the gasket on wrong/you're not torquing the pan down properly/you're not prepping the surfaces properly/you're using the wrong rtv...
    I have no idea of your experience level so don't be offended by the by the "well-no-shit-shirlock" statements above. Those are the most common though.

    1. Black rtv only...
    2. thoroughly clean both surfaces.
    3. dry fit the pan without gasket... see anything odd?
    4. RTV the corners and each end, big blob where the oil pump mates up... there's normally a ridge there... if that's what you've been doing then just go to f-n town with the rtv... try to get it so the excess will move out more than in...
