This weekend I went back and forth in some randoris with a very good judoka. I guess he took states and competed nationally a few times.

Anyway I think he threw me about 50 times, 5 of which I landed on my head. I ended up only pulling off about 5 clean throws lol.

I ended up dislocating my jaw and doing some serious neck damage to myself on a few of the landings about halfway through. I still can't move my neck to the left or backwards without a shitload of pain. One of the guys that I train with and happens to be a good friend of mine is a chiropractor. He is going to have me go in to have some xrays done. I just got done rolling and even when I was rolling at about 10% with this chick I was in so much damn pain just having her pass my guard. Looks like I'm going to take off a week or two from jiu jitsu and see how it goes. This sucks ass. I didn't even really have to take a break after I had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled :wtc:

even if after a week or two your neck feels alright (almost good as new, but not quite there yet), give it another week. neck injuries SUCK, and have a way of recurring over and over and over.

dont fuck around when it comes to your neck.

I've never really been thrown so I don't know if I have the right to say this, but maybe try to land differently?

That's probably stupid, considering anybody would do their best not to land on their head... I guess maybe practice having people throw you and land properly or something :dunno:

There are certain times that you can't land how you want particularly when the person throwing you is at the national level and outweighs you significantly, but yea, breakfalls and knowing how to land are key.

What are you thoughts on using throws in a "real world" experience after this?

Throws are killer. The guy that I have been training with is no saint. He uses judo in the bars and what not all the time which is completely retarted, but if you know how to throw and can throw hard, it is deadly.
