Dali Tattoo v. loonngg session with pics (update 2nd session)

Had my appointment with Nadine at metamorphosis yesterday. She started stenciling me around 12:30pm, and we got tattooing at about 2:00pm ish. We stopped at 11:00pm because my arm started to really react, as you can see in the leg she was working on.

Day after and it's all good, next appointment is June 5th, should be able to get it all done if we do another session like that, may need therapy after it though, was my first tattoo.

We took a break about every 2 hours for 5-10mins.

Dali image can be seen here:

    Stencil:

Outline: She did it in a light grey so she can change the colors in the next session, there is going to be no black outline.

    UPDATE JUNE 5th:
This time was shorter (1pm-6:30pm, 30min break) but she still charged 5 hours, thought we'd get a lot more done, oh well, ill try and post some more pics later.

With breaks closer to 8 I'm guessing. Although when I went asked her what the damage was, she says "Ahh lets call it 5 hours". Super nice lady, there was a mix up last appointment so she came in on her day off, and stayed 4 hours past shop closing time.

She changes $150 an hour, so it came to $772 (less deposit) with tax. I gave her total $875, wish i could of afforded to tip more, definitely want to keep her as my tattoo artist for future pieces.

Why would you need therapy after a tattoo?

I'm not going to be all macho and say it didn't hurt... definitely the most painful things I've done in my life. First couple of hours was actually easy, but several hours into it all of a sudden pain increased x10. I wasn't wimpering/crying or even making a face, was just a huge mental battle.

I really don't know what to tell you guys... I know you can get big pieces done in less time, but they are going to have less detail. Re-creating a Salvador Dali on flesh isn't easy. She's been tattooing for close to 20 years, and is the shop owner, so I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing.

you can check her portfolio is on the front page of http://www.metamorphosisbodyart.com, just hit next to scroll through her work. Maybe she is slow, but she is damn good .

No idea about sizes, didn't ask.

I think it's looking pretty good.

Yeah, she's prolly a little on the slow side, but if she only charged you for five hours, i'd say that looks about right.

there are a couple of areas i'm curious about how she's approaching it, but overall it's looking good.

Would of added an extra 30mins max, no biggie

Yeah, that lady had her boobs removed. She had excessive scarring from the operation too, but the tattoo covered it nicely.
