I don't know crap about diesels....

Tomorrow dad is picking up a 1999 Ford F350 dually, Quad Cab, Long bed with a 7.3l Diesel in it.

The exhaust is 5" exhaust... HUGE!!! and has a few extra gauges...Pyrometer i think it was called and something else...

The turbo sounds like a bad mofugga, I haven't gotten under the hood yet to see what's been modded.

What should I look for specifically to see what mods have been done??

    He's getting it for 12k

    Thanks

Typically the gauges people put on diesels are pyrometer and boost gauge. A aftermarket air intake system, chip, and new larger exhaust from the turbo back are pretty common upgrades for better performance. Just poke around and find anything thats obviously not original Ford parts.

    How many miles?

Ask general stuff (oil change interval, etc) plus I know the tranny is a big one to check on, but the guys at http://www.thedieselstop.com/ will know specifically what to look for in buying one of these trucks.

Wish I could find a 99 PSD for $12k out here.

It does have a pyrometer, it needs a new one, the gauge is sticky and sometimes doesnt work, the wiring is fine

    5" exhaust from turbo back

    Turbo brake

used to have a chip, its not found... Prev owner must have pulled it out

    KnN air filter...

That's all i've been able to find so far :)
