So, I recently purchased a new macbook, but had a little accident today on my bike and it got dented up pretty bad. I talked to apple and asked if I could return it still and they said yes for a 10% restocking fee ($130). Considering the repair would cost 500-600 I'm going to return it and maybe buy another macbook. I'm also considering taking that $1300 and upgrading my D300 to a D700. I could spend it on glass, but my current lens lineup is pretty nice. Nikon 12-24 f/4 (would require eventual upgrade to 14-24) Nikon 28-70 f/2.8 (no real need to upgrade to 24-70) Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AFS (don't really need 70-200 VR) Nikon 50 f/1.4 I think I would benefit more from the high ISO performance and high resolution of the d700 as opposed to upgrading my 28-70 to the 24-70, where I will hardly notice a difference.
