Figured I'd post up some samples of the 35 f/1.8 Af-S DX on my D700 FX body.

They are don't look perfect, but for $200, its a great deal and an awesome lens to have in my bag.

I shot this girl and her dad today for the newspaper, used my 85 all day, but I threw the 35 on at the end to give it a little test.

Not the best picture in the world, but its an example:

    Straight out of the camera
-good bit of vignette, shot at f/1.8

Straightened and CA and vignette correction in LR

    100% crop of focus point
2/3 of a stop slower than a 35L and 1/10th of the price
not the sharpest thing in the world, but its pretty solid
chromatic abberation is out of control with this lens though

seems completely usable, I love that focal length. stopping down a little will help the vignette as well as any softness at the edges. Also borders on too-wide-for-shooting-portraits.

I think so, if all else fails. I just take a step back so I can crop out the vignetting if I want to.

    I didn't buy this lens to stop down. I glued it @ 1.8 - If i want a sharp shot at 35mm above 1.8 I'll use my 24-70.

    order yours yet? :mamoru:
