Now that the D80 is out, how would the d70 compare? I really want a dslr but I dont want to buy something that is old and outdated.

still good for taking 8x10 photos, however the d80&d200 have better noise suppression at higher iso's than the d70.

Nikon has this special machine which releases specially programed electromagnetic waves specially tuned for the D70, which will be sent into the air when the D80 hit the shelves. The end result is that the D70 is no longer a good camera.

its still a good camera but if you're in the market now, i'd get the d80 as it is very current and offers great features for the money. but if you can get a great deal on a d70, get it.

remember, dont buy into a camera being the only way to get good pics. its just a tool of the photographer.

IMO, I wouldn't buy a D70 because of the viewfinder that is the size of a Airsoft pellet.
