D700 is one hell of a camera, but for me... I just can't justify paying that right now at this moment. One day, maybe. Right now, no. My D300 is doing just fine and reading that justifies it. :)

Plus, when it comes to fps... the D300 is the hands down winner. Not to mention, the D300 is no slouch in low lights. :o

i would be attaching grips to both, so it wouldnt matter. having used the d300 for iso 1600 or higher i would rather have the d700, from teh results i have seen. the d300 is on par with my 40d with noise, i would love the low light capabilities of the d700

    I'm content with my D300.

It's going to last me a VERY long time. At least another 4 years.

I almost jumped the Canon ship for the D700. I think I'm gonna stay though, cause I'm lazy and don't have the budget for Nikon stuff.

I'm happy with my D300. :wiggle:

Its not holding me back for anything, except lenses and accessory lighting (soft boxes, umbrellas, more flashes). :hsd:

If money isn't the issue, D700 is your camera. If you're being cost conscious and want a great camera, D300 and you sacrifice a little bit off field of view, but you still have the use off all lenses and features of the D700.

D70(s, not that it matters much) crew :wavey:

I'm a self funded operation, so money is indeed an issue. There are a few situations where I've had to be creative to work around a function my current setup won't support, or at least perform very well. At that point I decided an upgrade wasn't a bad idea.

I could make a number of sacrifices financially to support the D700, but given the outlook of the economy, I'm probably going to rock the D300.

    Thanks

How do you like the 300? Major step from the 80?

Its not a step, its a continnental leap. I have both, rarely use the D80 for anything but a backup.

Agreed...the D80 has turned into the backup and in my wifes hands for times I need a second shooter.

I went from the D50, which I had for 3 years, to the D300 and wow it was an amazing jump!

We here at OTAP are not here to tell you *not* to buy a certain camera, we tell you not to buy a certain *brand* of camera. In this scenerio, it would be anything Canon.

    You may now proceed. :o
